Eternal spring for the best taste of herbs
Our herbs are 90% grown in Africa mainly in Kenya, but also in Tanzania. Why in Africa you will think? These areas are around the equator and have eternal spring. The young crop grows best in this place with lots of light, a good temperature during the day and a bit colder at night, this makes the plants firm, but also the essential oils in the plant where the taste and smell comes from develop better in these areas.
Progressive developments in Africa
The herbs are harvested, packaged and shipped by our supplier in a specific way. There are strict protocols for this. This is the power of a good product for shelf life. Africa underdeveloped? Far from it! Projects have started where greenhouses are being built for growing herbs, protecting the herbs from the rain and allowing better climate control.
Did you know...
- ...herbs are the healthy alternative to salt and pepper?
- ...an aphrodisiac effect is attributed to savory? Savory is also called goat's herb. In Japan, shepherds realized that the goats they were herding had more mating urges if they ate that savory. However, this has never been proven, but a nice anecdote.
- ... Many herbs have medicinal properties. Thyme that soothes the throat, sage that cleanses the mouth of bacteria, stevia can be used as a sweetener. Medicinally it has never been proven, but they are healthy substitutes for all the cheap chemicals.
